MIKRON-D is a lightweight binocular night vision device (BNVD) from Theon Sensors, which is a close relative of the BinoNV-C (branded by EOTech) and Elbit F5032 in terms of design. The main feature of MIKRON-D is the use of 16mm Photonis image intensifier tubes, which significantly reduces the size and weight of the device.

Differences from BinoNV-C
Unlike the BinoNV-C and F5032, the MIKRON-D uses its own dovetail mount, which features integration with an accelerometer for automatic shut-off when flipped up on a helmet. Additionally, folding the individual pods also cuts off their power via reed relays.
Mount Design
🛠️ The Theon Sensors mount features:
-
independent up/down and tilt adjustment;
-
dovetail offset for adjusting the eye relief (line of sight);
-
mechanical mount lock.
Compatibility
⚙️ Due to the location of the remote power port, some mounts (e.g., Wilcox G24) may be incompatible without modifications. At the same time, the Wilcox G69 works correctly.
Use with SBNVG

🪖 MIKRON-D integrates well into the SBNVG (USMC) system, is compatible with ECOSI/ECOTI, and works with various battery packs:
-
metal 2-cell pack;
-
plastic 4-cell pack;
-
modern plastic 3-cell pack (supplied with SBNVG).
Power is supplied by 3 AA batteries. The pack is slightly bulky due to the protrusion for the power cable.
Practical Impressions

👁️ The device:
-
has high-quality green Photonis tubes;
-
provides an excellent picture;
-
weighs only 14.2 oz without the battery;
-
demonstrates good ergonomics.
There are certain nuances with the eyecup retaining rings and physical pod travel stops.

Conclusion
✅ MIKRON-D is a very successful option for a light, compact, and effective night vision configuration. Its green Photonis tubes provide a high-quality image, and its weight and ease of use make it an ideal choice for mobile tasks. The only downside is the difficulty with the availability of new 16mm tubes in the US market.
