The Caldwell Matrix Shooting Rest is a modular support for stabilizing a firearm during zeroing and bench shooting. The design accommodates a wide range of firearm lengths, fitting both conventional rifles and lever-action systems as well as AR-platform rifles with detachable magazines.
The rest is built around a rigid two-piece U-channel frame that locks to length via a sliding connection between the front and rear sections. The front cradle's height is adjusted with a spring-loaded tension mechanism and a locking knob, allowing one-handed, wobble-free positioning across the full adjustment range. The open central channel leaves clearance for detachable magazines and lever-action reloading mechanisms. The front and rear supports feature a rubberized coating that reduces the risk of scratching the firearm's finish and limits movement once clamped. The removable rear section converts the full-length rest into a compact front rest, while a compartment built into the front base is used for storing small accessories; its lid, when closed, serves as a rubberized rear support surface for handgun shooting.
Key advantages:
- Quick length adjustment of the frame to fit a given firearm
- Spring-loaded height mechanism for precise, wobble-free one-handed aiming
- Open central channel for detachable magazines and lever-action reloading systems
- Converts into a compact front rest by removing the rear section
- Rubberized support coating that reduces the risk of finish damage
- Built-in storage compartment in the frame base
