BNVD-1431 / Photonis ECHO is a modern dual-tube night-vision system that combines the lightweight BNVD-1431 housing with European Photonis ECHO image-intensifier tubes.
This configuration delivers military-grade ergonomics together with the optical quality of the ECHO series, known for its excellent detail reproduction, low noise level, and stability in variable-light environments.
Photonis ECHO tubes are a hybrid class positioned between Gen 2+ and Gen 3 and are developed in France.
They demonstrate FOM values up to 2200, high resolution (up to 57 lp/mm), and fast auto-gating that protects the user’s eyes from sudden bright-light exposure.
P43 green phosphor ensures a classic high-contrast image with natural depth perception, making it well-suited for extended missions.

Comment / quality level
Photonis ECHO tubes are valued for their smooth image characteristics, minimal grain, and natural contrast, making them one of the most balanced civil-professional solutions.
Unlike many traditional Gen 3 systems, they perform better in urban lighting and full-moon conditions, where many U.S.-made tubes tend to bloom.
In combination with the BNVD-1431 housing, the user benefits from ergonomic geometry, optional monocular-mode operation, and seamless integration with helmet-mounted systems.
Who it is suitable for
Reconnaissance operators and UAV personnel who require high resolution and low-noise imaging.
Instructors and training units working in controlled lighting environments.
Observers, security personnel, and patrol services operating in urban conditions.
Volunteer organizations and civilian users seeking high-grade Gen 2+/3-level performance without excessive cost.
Sport shooters and hunters who value natural light rendering without aggressive “white-out” effects
